Before my tragic car crash, I was a vivacious, beautiful young lady with a promising future. As a public relations assistant at the Sheraton Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., I met many political figures and famous people.
Shortly after moving to Atlanta, I was hit head-on by a drunk driver on my way to work. The 100 m.p.h. impact destroyed my beautiful face, shattering my facial bones and leaving me unrecognizable. After the crash, my life changed forever. I lost my job, my marriage ended in a divorce and I became suicidal. Because I had a traumatic brain injury, the doctor told my family I would never work again.
Through an amazing inner strength, I found the courage to survive. I knew God saved my life for a reason and I was on a quest to find it. I wanted to speak at Mothers Against Drunk Driving but I was terrified of public speaking. To get over my fear, I joined Toastmasters at the Square in Marietta, Georgia in 2002 so I could share my story with others.
I was able to overcome my fear of speaking and become an accomplished speaker after my many years in Toastmasters. I received my Competent Toastmaster Award, Advanced Toastmaster Bronze, Advanced Communicator Silver and Competent Leader Award. I was president of my club from 2005-2006. In 2006, Carol Harper Speaks was created and I became a professional speaker. I have written three books and I am a life coach specializing in self-esteem and self discovery. I speak at schools, women's organizations, churches, associations and clubs. I will speak to any group that needs encouragement or inspiration! I am on the Victim Impact Panel for Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Cobb and Paulding County. |
My mission is to SAVE LIVES and get PROVEN RESULTS by changing lives. I truly Lived To Speak!
